Privacy Policy for RX Timer
Last updated: 14 June 2026
Effective date: 14 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the RX Timer mobile application (the "App") handles information. The App is developed and published by Daniel Thranholm, operating as designerdan ("we", "us", or "our").
We have designed RX Timer to respect your privacy by default. RX Timer does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Everything the App stores stays on your device. There is no account, no login, no sign-up, and no server operated by us that receives your data.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary (Plain-Language Overview)
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not require an account or login.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies.
- We do not use any third-party software development kits (SDKs) that collect data.
- We do not transmit your data to us or to any server.
- All of your settings and statistics are stored locally on your device only.
- The App works fully offline.
- You can delete all stored data at any time by deleting the App.
The remainder of this policy provides the detail required for the Apple App Store and for applicable privacy laws.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit. RX Timer does not collect, request, access, or process any of the following:
- Name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- Apple ID, account credentials, or login information
- Precise or approximate location data
- Contacts, calendars, photos, or your media library
- Camera or microphone input
- Health, fitness, or medical data from Apple Health (HealthKit) or any other source
- Device advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any cross-app/cross-site tracking identifiers
- Browsing history or usage data sent to us or any analytics provider
- Payment or financial information (the App is free and contains no in-app purchases)
The App does not include any analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or social media tracking SDKs.
3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
To make the App work and to remember your preferences, RX Timer saves a small amount of information on your device only, using Apple's standard on-device preference storage (UserDefaults). This information is never transmitted off your device by the App. It includes:
Timer preferences
- Your saved timer configuration (mode, durations, number of rounds, work/rest settings)
- Pre-start countdown duration
- Sound on/off setting and sound volume level
Interface preferences
- Whether you have used landscape mode (used to hide an onboarding hint)
- Whether you have seen the long-press reset hint
Usage statistics (on-device only)
- The total number of timers you have completed
- A per-day count of completed timers, used to render the in-app activity heat map and "active days" statistic
This statistics data contains only counts and calendar dates. It is not linked to your identity, is not associated with any identifier, is not used to track you, and is not shared with us or any third party. It exists solely to display your progress inside the App and stays on your device.
Because this data is stored on your device, it is also subject to your device's own security and backup settings (for example, encrypted iCloud or iTunes/Finder device backups that you control through iOS).
4. How the App Uses Device Features
RX Timer uses certain device capabilities purely to provide its core function. None of these involve collecting or transmitting your data:
- Audio: The App generates simple beep tones on the device for countdown and transition cues. Audio is mixed with any other audio you are playing and is played through your device. No audio is recorded; the microphone is never accessed.
- Haptics: The App triggers vibration feedback on supported devices.
- Screen wake: While a timer is running, the App keeps the screen awake so the timer remains visible.
- AirPlay / Screen Mirroring: The App can present a full-screen timer on an external display. This uses Apple's standard system screen-mirroring feature, which you control. The App does not transmit any data to us through this feature.
5. Internet Access and Links to Other Services
RX Timer is fully functional offline and does not connect to any server operated by us.
The App contains optional buttons that, only when you tap them, open external websites or system features in a separate app (such as your web browser or the iOS share sheet). These include:
- "Support the app" — opens Buy Me a Coffee (
buymeacoffee.com) - "Request a feature" — opens our feature-request board hosted by Canny (
rx-timer.canny.io) - "Built by designerdan.io" / website link — opens
designerdan.io - "Privacy Policy" link — opens this policy in your browser
- "Share with friends" — opens the standard iOS share sheet so you can share a message about the App using apps you choose
When you choose to open one of these links or use the share sheet, you leave the App and interact with a third party. Those services are operated by other companies and have their own privacy policies and terms, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party service before providing information to it. We do not receive your personal information from these services through the App.
6. Children's Privacy
RX Timer does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The App contains no objectionable content and is rated 4+. Because we collect no data, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and similar laws.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), and other regional regulations. These rights can include the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing.
Because RX Timer does not collect, store on our systems, or process any personal information about you, we hold no personal data to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. All data the App creates resides on your own device and is under your control.
To exercise control over your data directly:
- You can reset preferences and statistics by deleting and reinstalling the App.
- You can permanently remove all locally stored data by deleting the App from your device.
We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not engage in targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral tracking.
8. Data Retention
Data stored by the App (your preferences and statistics) remains on your device until you delete it, reset it, or uninstall the App. We do not retain any of your data on our servers because we never receive it.
9. Data Security
RX Timer stores its data locally using the operating system's standard storage mechanisms, protected by the security features of your device and iOS (such as device passcode and encryption, where enabled by you). Because no data is transmitted off your device by the App, there is no transmission for us to secure. No method of electronic storage is ever completely secure, so we encourage you to protect your device with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
10. International Users
The App processes information only on your own device, wherever you are located. We do not transfer your information across borders, because we do not collect or receive it.
11. Apple App Store Privacy Disclosure
Consistent with this policy, the App's "App Privacy" details on the Apple App Store indicate that no data is collected from the App and that the App does not use data to track you. The App's Privacy Manifest declares that no tracking is performed and that no data types are collected.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new App features or changes in law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and post the current version at the privacy policy link below. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or the App Store listing. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
